AVID Community Service
AVID students must complete 5 hours of community/volunteer service each school quarter. Students must complete a total of 20 hours of community service in a school year.
Community service consists of work completed through recognized non-profit organizations that service the community. Some examples would be to work for the city, county library, beach clean up, feeding homeless, assisting foster youth, planting trees, and non-profit organizations.
Volunteer service consists of activities like helping a teacher with after school tutoring, helping a ministry at a church, setting up or working at activities for sport or campus clubs.
Students must maintain evidence of all community service hours as well as keep a community service log.
